The main physical and chemical properties of polypropylene

1. The vertical surface of the polypropylene fiber is straight and smooth, and the cross-section is circular.

2. The biggest advantage of density polypropylene is light texture, its density of only 0.91g/cm3 is the lightest variety of common chemical fibers, so the same weight of polypropylene than other fibers to get a higher coverage area.

3. The tensile polypropylene fiber has high strength, large elongation, high initial modulus and excellent elasticity. So polypropylene wear resistance is good. In addition, the wet strength of polypropylene is basically equal to the dry strength, so it is the ideal material for making fishing nets and cables.

4. Hygroscopic and dyed polypropylene have very little hygroscopic properties, almost no hygroscopic properties, and the moisture regain rate under general atmospheric conditions is close to zero. However, it has a core suction effect, which can transfer water vapor through the capillary tubes in the fabric, but does not have any absorption effect itself. The dyeing property of polypropylene is poor and the chromatography is incomplete, but the method of stock solution coloring can be used to make up for the deficiency.

5. Acid and alkali resistant polypropylene has good chemical resistance, in addition to concentrated nitric acid, concentrated caustic soda, polypropylene has good resistance to acid and alkali, so it is suitable for filter materials and packaging materials.

6. Light resistance and other polypropylene light resistance is poor, thermal stability is also poor, easy to age, not resistant to ironing. However, the anti-aging properties can be improved by adding anti-aging agents during spinning. In addition, the electrical insulation of polypropylene is good, but it is easy to produce static electricity during processing.
